Physicochemical properties: α- Tocopherol is a natural substance, which is a viscous oily liquid with little odor, transparency, yellow, yellowish brown or light green to yellow. Solubility: insoluble in water; Soluble in acetone, ethanol, ether and vegetable oil.

Storage conditions: tocopherol is oxidized slowly in the air, and the oxidation rate is accelerated in the presence of iron salt and silver salt. Oxidation products include oxidized tocopherol, tocopherol hydroquinone, dimer and trimer. Tocopherol ester is more resistant to oxidation than free tocopherol, so effective antioxidants are rare. Tocopherol shall be stored in airtight container under the protection of inert gas and placed in a cool and dry place away from light.
